Help to predict and prevent property damage

Leaks and changes in temperature, humidity, or water pressure can cause damage to critical infrastructure and valuable assets. Hospitals, research labs, universities, libraries, commercial and residential properties, including those with fine art or private wine and spirit collections, are all vulnerable to potentially catastrophic damage.

Chubb can help homeowners, risk engineers and commercial property managers deploy IoT technology to monitor and identify threats before damage occurs. More information is available from StreamLabs, Inc., a Chubb Company.

Commercial IoT Sensors

Multiple Non-invasive Sensors to Protect Your Assets
StreamLabs Point of Leak Sensor

The versatile StreamLabs wireless Point of Leak Sensor has a probe at the end of a three-foot cable that detects the presence of water and can be discretely hidden out-of-sight.

Place the sensor probe near critical and/or high-value equipment susceptible to water damage. Known sources of potential water release include chilled water pumps, hot water boilers or areas with heightened risk for water (e.g. sinks and toilets).

The sensors use LoRaWAN® technology to send real-time alerts via text or email to prevent a potentially catastrophic event.

Measurements = 1.46 inches x 2.81 inches x 0.75 inches

Cable: 36 inches

StreamLabs Temperature Sensor

The StreamLabs Temperature Sensor is ideal for areas where extreme temperature levels can affect valuable assets, equipment or safety including food storage, fine art or wine and spirit collections, HVAC systems or sensitive laboratory equipment.

The sensor features customizable settings and leverages LoRaWAN® technology to send real-time alerts via text or email to prevent a potentially catastrophic event.

Temperature Sensor Measurements = 1.46 inches x 2.81 inches x 0.75 inches

StreamLabs Rope Sensor

The StreamLabs wireless Rope Sensor detects the presence of water anywhere along its three-foot rope, which uses two wires covered with conductive polymer. The rope is highly flexible for easy placement around equipment.

Place the remote leak detector near water heaters, sump pumps, HVAC units, data centers, floor drains, or water control valves to detect early signs of a water leak. LoRaWAN® technology is used to send real-time alerts via text or email to prevent a potentially catastrophic event.

Sensor Measurements:  1.46 inches x 2.81 inches x 0.75 inches

Rope Measurement: 36 inches

StreamLabs Signal

The StreamLabs Signal leverages LoRaWAN® technology to provide building-wide connectivity to thousands of IoT assets. Easy to deploy, the Signal extends coverage in remote or hard-to-reach areas inside of commercial buildings such as hotels, convention centers, offices and retail stores. An electrical outlet is required.

Residential IoT Sensors

Protecting your most valuable asset, your home
StreamLabs Monitor

The StreamLabs Smart Water Monitor easily connects to the home’s existing pipes without any pipe cutting or professional plumbing services, and uses patented ultrasonic technology to detect leaks.

Monitor automatically detects your unique, water usage patterns – all without you having to configure a thing. You are alerted in real-time and receive notifications as soon as a leak is detected for any abnormal water use - along with comparative and historical water usage data.

Compatible with both the StreamLabs Control and Scout devices.

StreamLabs Control

The StreamLabs Control is a smart automatic water shut-off valve designed with state-of-the-art ultrasonic flow metering technology to monitor and protect your entire home plumbing system.

Through the StreamLabs App, the Control tracks and reports water usage by hour, day, and month, and sends alerts when leaks or freeze conditions are detected.  Featuring home and away modes, the Control automatically shuts off water if a leak is detected with Smart Alerts learning leak detection.

Compatible with both the Monitor and Scout devices.

StreamLabs Scout

Connected via Wi-Fi, the Scout point-of-leak sensor sounds an audible alarm and sends real-time alerts to your smart device if water is detected or if temperature or humidity levels reach levels that may be cause for concern.

If paired with a Control device, Scout can shut-off the main water line if it detects the presence of water or freezing conditions. Easy DIY install and ideal to place near a hot water heater, HVAC drip pan, under a sink as well as in unheated areas such as attics or crawl spaces or unfinished basements.

A very useful solution in parts of the country prone to cold weather.  Scout accessories are sold separately.

Real-Time Alerts

StreamLabs products alert you at the smallest of leaks, monitor your water consumption, and provide confidence that water won’t ruin your home and belongings or disrupt your life. You’d never live without a smoke detector. You shouldn’t live without a StreamLabs detection system either.

IoT Use Cases

Safeguarding

Chubb can help its clients implement an IoT monitoring program designed to protect healthcare and other facilities with high value equipment by detecting the slightest indication of potential hazards from water damage, temperature changes or vibration. Facility administrators can get real-time smartphone app alerts, ensuring efficient building management and occupant safety. Small sensors installed in critical locations help detect conditions to prevent damage before it occurs or escalates – keeping facilities operating.

Protecting Healthcare Facilities

Hospitals have exposures that make them particularly susceptible to large claims arising from water losses including damage to high-value medical equipment, sterile surgical instruments, medicines and research animals, all requiring controlled humidity and temperature environments intertwined with a complex physical plant. For hospital facility managers, monitoring operating rooms can be a challenge, but Chubb’s IoT program is there to help.

Keeping Class in Session on College Campuses

Most college campuses include a matrix of buildings, such as teaching laboratories, dormitories and libraries – some steeped in history and others with new state-of-the-art technology. For campus facility managers, monitoring can also be a challenge. Chubb’s IoT program adds extra “eyes” in buildings vulnerable to water damage or temperature changes.

Residential

A water leak in one apartment can wreak havoc on the entire building, flood multiple floors and units, and disrupt the lives of every resident. Chubb’s IoT program can detect the potential for a catastrophic loss early. Real-time alerts about potential issues can be sent to residential homeowners’ or superintendents’ phones to address problems before they result in major losses.

Detect and Prevent Damage

Detecting and preventing water leaks is a primary focus of Chubb’s IoT solutions.  Burst pipes, roof leaks, overflowing toilets, and leaking appliances can cause significant damage, with losses ranging from thousands into millions of dollars. Water damage can also result in business interruption, relocation costs, lost rents, and can negatively impact business reputation. According to insurance industry statistics, the frequency and cost of water damage losses is increasing. While no business class is truly immune, water claims are highest for commercial buildings, hotels, universities, office buildings and healthcare facilities. For more information on water damage trends and solutions, see Chubb’s Preventing Water Damage whitepaper.

Wine aficionados protect their valuable collections

Connoisseurs who enjoy fine wine know how to care for their stored collection. Now, wine aficionados can do more to protect their valuable collections. Chubb’s IoT monitoring program, a complement to our wine preservation expertise, can alert private collectors via a smartphone app to fluctuations in temperature, humidity and other conditions in their wine storage that can significantly alter the quality of the wine.

Real-Time IoT

Chubb’s IoT monitoring program includes a turnkey package of small, easy-to-install devices, software, customizable alerts and 24x7 monitoring support. Our IoT team comprises experienced risk engineers, who can help guide clients through the installation process. The mobile app includes an intuitive dashboard that delivers actionable alerts and real-time insights to identify problems before significant damage occurs.
